Collaboration with the Kenya Red Cross
Peace Charter in collaboration with the Kenya Red Cross distributed relief food (Unimix) between October and
December 2011 to schools in Garissa and around Dadaab camps at a total cost of USD $30,000.
As the above activity went on, Peace Charter also partnered with the Red Cross Garissa office in offering water relief to host communities around the Dadaab refugee camps at a cost of approximately USD $10,000 that saw purchase of 8 water tanks and a full month of water supply.
Hygiene and Health Packages
Peace Charter also supported the Weldone Community near Dadaab refugee camps with sanitation packs at a cost of approximately USD $2,000.
Collaboration with Mama Honey Orphanage, Garissa Primary School
Peace Charter donated 30 mattresses, 75 bed sheets, 40 mosquito nets and edibles including sanitary towels to the girl children in this institution at a cost of around USD $4,000. Peace Charter also reconnected water supply in the institution and supported the orphanage with kitchen appliances (cooker, microwave), Fridge, washer, pop corn cooker and food supplies at another cost of USD $7,000. During this year (Jan – March 2012), Peace Charter has rehabilitated Mama Honey toilets and bathrooms that were all terribly ran down without power connection, plumping works, collapsing buildings and unlocking doors, etc at a cost of around USD $15,000.
Peace Charter noted the pathetic state of this institution and mobilized hospital equipment support and transportation worth over USD $20,000 in addition to donating 30 new hospital mattresses with covers at a cost of around USD $3,000.
